I read about one property that has been owned by the Duchy since the 1300s --under the first duke of Cornwall?!

Same here. William seems very principled so I don't think this is announcement meant to placate critics of the monarchy. He's bought himself a decade before he needs to do anything or risk being called out. By 2036, William will probably be king and the duchy will be controlled by the next Prince of Wales. George may have different ideas of what to do with the duchy.

The Duchy is governed by the Prince's Council chaired by William.
I did not find who are on the Council.

I thought each Duke could only derive income and not have access to the assets. So this latest news is a major change in my view.

The website has been totally overhauled since I last looked at it. It looks extremely aspirational.
All well and good to be well intentioned but I would like to see the history maintained on the website.

In the Duchy Report of last year who is on the Prince's Council is listed in the report. Go to Page 50 onwards for details of the Council.

Thank you. The FAQs did help but I think they need some editing. They might have been used as a quick way to try to preserve some of the previous historical story.

I find that FAQs rarely handle well the questions people might ask.
And I'm disappointed to see "Prince of Wales" still in places. Better to stick with "Duke" or "Prince". A quick job as I said. It would be better to deal with the origins of the Duchy as a topic. But I will put in more time studying the website because I'm still not clear about who is ultimately responsible.

I think the "council" would make the decision to sell. They generally have done over the years --buying and selling, re-evaluating investments, etc.

Yes. I believe the Council is in control. Used to be called Trustees I think. And there might have been a government department that a role but don't quote me on that one.

I miss lots of the previous version of the website. Shall put in more time searching the current site.

More than just a simple sale of land.

There are housing and nature projects involved over a period of ten years. We will read more about this as time goes by.

Well down the article tells of offering some tenanted farms in Dorset for sale to the tenants on favourable terms.

These initiatives sound progressive.
