Last I heard, they will be visiting the Shenandoah Valley. I live in the foothills of the Shenandoahs. If they travel by car, they will past within three miles of my house. If they take a helicopter, they will fly over my house. I've tried to find exactly where they will be, but have not been able to find any information on that yet. Probably the closest I will come to royalty. However, when Charles and Diana came to Washington, DC, their motorcade passed by me. I was stopped on an on-ramp per security. I saw Diana through the window.

According to the itinerary I saw for the visit, the King and Queen will be visitng Arlington National Cemetery, Shenandoah National Park.

Shenandoah Park is about 200,000 acres! Unless they state exactly where the Royal couple will be, it would nearly impossible to find them. There are a lot of scenic stops and several "headquarters" Maybe more info will come out.

I think it will be easier if you set up a lawn chair and tv tray with snacks up on your roof and keep an eye out.

Well, it's all over the news here. The King and Queen Consort are visiting Front Royal Thursday on their way to Shenandoah National Park. Front Royal is the next town over from me. They will be traveling within three miles of my house down the interstate highway. Unfortunately, Thursdays are the one day I am not at home. I will miss the whole thing. However, I will be traveling the opposite direction on the road they will be taking which means we might be caught up in road closures! Maybe I will get a peek of their motorcade.

From The King to The President of The United States of America. The King gifted the President a framed facsimile of the 1879 design plans for the Resolute Desk, the originals of which are held by the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, London.
These drawings show the front elevation, top and projection of the President's Desk, currently located in the Oval Office of the White House. The Resolute Desk was created from the timbers of the British exploration ship H.M.S. Resolute. The U.S. Government recovered and refitted H.M.S. Resolute before sending it back to England where it was presented to Queen Victoria on 17th December 1856 as a gesture of goodwill and friendship between the United States and the United Kingdom.
H.M.S. Resolute went on to serve in the Royal Navy until 1879, when it was decommissioned. Three desks were then made from the ship’s timber by master carpenter William Evenden, at the Royal Navy Dockyard in Chatham, Kent. On 23rd November 1880, the finished Resolute Desk was presented to President Rutherford B. Hayes by Queen Victoria.
From The Queen to the First Lady
The Queen presented the First Lady a Fiona Rae brooch.
British jewellery designer Fiona Rae has been designing and making jewellery for over 34 years. After graduating from Central Saint Martins, Fiona, a member of the British Society of Enamellers, received advice and a loan from the Prince’s Trust (now The King’s Trust) and is today one of the UK's few enamel specialists. In 2024, Fiona was among the first businesses to be granted a Royal Warrant from His Majesty The King. Fiona's work is a fusion of traditional craft skills alongside the latest developments in technology and computer-aided design.
From The President to The King
The President gifted His Majesty a custom facsimile of a letter written from John Adams to John Jay in 1785.
On June 2 1785, in a letter from John Adams to John Jay, Adams describes His Majesty King George III receiving Adams as the first U.S. Ambassador to Great Britain at St. James’s Palace. According to Adams, the meeting was marked by the pomp and ceremony required by the occasion of a royal audience. But beneath the pageantry, Adams described a strong undercurrent of emotion as the King and his former subject – once bitter enemies – met face to face, as statesmen.
Adams quotes his speech to the King promising to restore friendship between the two nations and the King’s response saying that although he was "the last to consent to the separation,” he would be the first to meet U.S. friendship. Adams notes that this experience might prove useful to later diplomats.
From the First Lady to The Queen
The First Lady gifted Her Majesty six Tiffany’s English King Sterling Silver Teaspoons and White House Honey.
The teaspoons are Tiffany’s interpretation of the “King” designs, which were very popular in England and America in the late 19th century. Each teaspoon is hand engraved with Her Majesty’s cypher.
For Tiffany’s 150th anniversary in 1987, this flatware pattern was selected for the Blair House – the official presidential guest quarters – to use while hosting heads of state and dignitaries.
The White House honey jar nods to the Queen’s interest in beekeeping and reflects a shared appreciation for sustainability, craftsmanship, and the natural world.

No tiaras! However, Camilla is wearing the most beautiful gown I've ever seen on her. It's the most flattering cut and color for her and she looks fabulous. The sapphire necklace goes a way to make up for no tiara, too.

From what I could find in an online search, it was actually named after no one in particular. During the War in the 1940s most Royal Navy vessels were named with short names beginning with the letter T.

That's really interesting and in one way prophetic, I guess. I know Trump's father is of German ancestry and the name is of English/German origin, a word meaning "drum". I guess it's the history teacher in me that finds names and ancestry really fascinating.

This tour was a huge success. It made everyone look good, highlighted the friendship between nations and showed the world how to play nice even when there's disagreement.

I hope Charles and Camilla aren't too tired by the time they return home.

I agree. This visit was a resounding success. Charles showed his diplomatic skills and he and Camilla were warm, charming, and reassuring. The sustained applause they received said it all.

Well, I didn't get to see the king, a motorcade or helicoptors going out to the Park, but I did get a notice that parts of the Park would be closed. And some road closures within the Park. I did see one big black vehicle with its lights flashing and one helicopter going over but don't know if they were part of the convoy. There was some excitement here in the foothills of the Shenandoahs! If I hadn't had other obligations, I would have made an effort to see if I could see anything, but alas, I had other things I was committed to.

royal convoys

In the mid-90s, I was walking along a main thoroughfare in my town. I saw a string of 4-5 Jaguars drive by --I think one had some flags on the hood. "Huh, that's a lot of Jags."

Later I realised it was the prince of Wales on his way to the Huntington Library with his entourage.

Well, our town was all atwitter as the convoy went through part of our town. I was out of town so I missed it all, but our local social media is exploding with pictures, stories, and people saying they were stopped in traffic to let the convoy through. I was driving in the opposite direction and missed it all, but I think I saw a couple of "official" vehicles that maybe were sent out ahead of the rest.
