London Saturday 25th April 2026
The Princess Royal and the Princess of Wales will attend services commemorating Anzac Day in London on Saturday 25th April.
Organised by the New Zealand and Australian High Commissions, the Princess Royal will attend the dawn service at Wellington Arch, Hyde Park Corner. The service will last approximately 45 minutes and include readings, the Last Post, silence, reveille and national anthems. Wreaths will be laid at the close of the service.
The Princess of Wales will then attend the wreath-laying ceremony and parade at the Cenotaph followed by the service of commemoration and thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey. This will be a traditional church service, incorporating an address from the Dean of Westminster, readings from the New Zealand and Australian High Commissioners, prayers read by children of each country, and a Māori waiata performed by London-based Ngāti Rānana.
Anzac Day has been observed in London since King George V attended the first service at Westminster Abbey in 1916 to mark the anniversary of the landings at Gallipoli. Since then, the services have become an important moment to commemorate all Australians and New Zealanders who have lost their lives in conflict and recognise all those who have served. Anzac Day is commemorated as a public holiday in both Australia and New Zealand, with memorial ceremonies held at various locations.

Anne has attended the early morning service several times before. I don't think Catherine has attended a service on her own. The big guns are being strategically deployed.
