Royal Family to attend events marking the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of the late Queen

Monday, 20th April

Engagement:

The King and Queen will visit the new Royal Collection Trust exhibition, Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style, at The King’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace.

Tuesday, 21st April

Engagement 1:

The King and Queen, together with members of the Royal Family, will view the design recommendations for the Queen Elizabeth Memorial in London at the British Museum.

Engagement 2:

The Princess Royal will officially open The Queen Elizabeth II Garden in The Regent’s Park, London NW1.

Engagement 3:

The King and Queen, together with members of the Royal Family, will host a reception in the Marble Hall at Buckingham Palace to to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Queen Elizabeth II.

Their Majesties will be joined by centenarians who are celebrating their 100th birthdays on
this date and, as birthday cake is served, His Majesty will have the opportunity to present
them with their centenary cards in person.

These sound wonderful, but I suspect the events might be bittersweet in some ways for her family.

I agree. There will be a tear or two, I predict. It's one thing to celebrate a life, but another to be reminded of the loss.

Yes, that's how life is for all of us. The Queen was like family to us and like family, we appreciate the memories and memorials yet feel the sadness at the same time. It takes one person in the family to say, "This reminds me of the time......", and the sadness doesn't disappear, but the good memories are still there.
