Requiem Mass for HRH Princess Irene of Greece

Queen Sofía, with King Felipe, Queen Letizia, the Princess of Asturias, Infanta Sofía and other members of the Spanish Royal family attended a service for Princess Irene of Greek and Denmark at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of St Andrew and St Demetrius in Madrid.

Alexia of Greece and Denmark and her husband Carlos attended, but no Anne Marie? No Pavlos? Or were they there but I'm blind?

Elena's ex-husband Jaime and her daughter Victoria attended as well as some of Cristina's children. Konstantin and Kyril of Bulgaria also. Infanta Margarita looks very frail, but she was there. I didn't see any of the other Greek Royals in these photos.

Funeral Service of HRH Princess Irene of Greece

The Service will be held on Tomorrow, 19 January at 12pm (Greek time) in Athens, Greece. The Princess will be repatriated to Greece today.

Ah, that explains why the Greek RF wasn't at the service in Spain. I expect we'll see most of them at the Athens service.

Incredibly moving. I love how Leonore was so attentive to her grandmother. It looked like Queen Sofia was explaining parts of the service to her at some points. Anne Marie was blinking back tears, as was Queen Sofia. I am glad Irene was laid to rest in Greece.

I feel for Queen Sofia, she's the last living member of her family, her parents and both siblings have passed on. She does have a lot a family support and love, that's a huge plus.
I've been reading some of the articles in some tabloids have their reporters gushing about this will bring about reconciliation with the three Spanish siblings, that's jumping the gun and wishful thinking.
Marie Chantal was unable to attend, her mother underwent surgery and remains hospitalized.

There were photos of Cristina's daughter Irene with Elena's daughter Victoria together at the funeral, so we know those two still associate. I would imagine that the siblings (Felipe, Cristina and Elena) still communicate but Cristina's past actions have made it difficult for Felipe and his family to be seen with hers. Because of their position within the monarchy, Leonor and Sofia would only socialize with the Ungandarin family under the radar. Because of their proximity to Juan Carlos they have to be seen as that much cleaner.
