The King visited RNLI volunteers for a beach litter pick during a visit to Walmer Beach in Kent

He spoke to crew members about their work and met the public near Deal Castle. The lifeboat team told Charles they receive frequent call-outs to help small boats, which are often “not very seaworthy” and lead to traumatic rescues.

Walmer Castle is the official residence of the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports, in Deal, Kent. The King met representatives from the 14 coastal towns of the Confederation of Cinque Ports, a historic medieval alliance that now serves a ceremonial role.
