King Charles is admitted to hospital (but he's back at Clarence House)

The King has been forced to cancel a string of engagements after being admitted to hospital today over his ongoing cancer treatment.

The monarch, 72, was tonight back at Clarence House 'working away as usual', with sources describing it as a 'most minor bump in a road that's very much heading in the right direction'.

However in order to 'protect and prioritise [his] continued very positive recovery' he has 'regretfully' cancelled a string of engagements in Birmingham tomorrow.

It's good news that they let him go home so quickly. But he's not out of the woods just yet.

If the King was admitted to the hospital for a short time and was discharged the same day, I'm just guessing, of course, maybe he became dehydrated and needed some IV hydration. The Queen had mentioned early in his treatment that he skipped lunch while at work and she was going to change that. He's also had quite a few engagements lately. Not only missing meals, but forgetting to keep hydrated.

I read somewhere else that he suffered side effects from the treatment and went to hospital for a time to be monitored.

That's correct. "King Charles III spent a short period of time in hospital on Thursday after experiencing temporary side effects during cancer treatment, Buckingham Palace said."
