1981 - Queen Frederica of Greece died in Madrid of heart failure. She was buried at Tatoi, the Royal family's palace and burial ground in Greece.

Karen, do you know if all the gorgeous jewelry worn by Queen Frederica..particularly in the last three photos...are still with the Greek Royal Family. They are jaw-droppers.

Queen Frederika passed along many of her jewels to Anne Marie when she married Constantine. We've seen many of the jewels worn by her daughter Alexia and Marie Chantal has worn the large Diamond Tiara. The emerald and ruby parures or parts of the parures still have been worn solely by Anne-Marie.
Nellie or Cynthia will more help, they have a lot more knowledge than myself.

That was a sad day when Frederika died, she had eye surgery at a Spanish clinic, some reports say plastic surgery, others cataract surgery. She suddenly developed complications and died from those complications. Completely unexpected.

I should have checked with the Court Jeweller's site before I posted! I was wrong about a stomacher being broken up, but was right about the others. I still don't know what necklace Freddie is wearing in the last photo.

Freddie is wearing the Greek Emerald Parure tiara intwo of those last three photos. In the first of the three, she's wearing it as a necklace with queen Sophie's Diamond tiara. I think her earrings and Brooch are part of the parure as well.

Oops,posted too soon. Freddie is wearing the Greek Emerald Parure tiara as a a tiara with the brooch from before and what I think is a pendant created from the stomacher from that same set. I believe the stomacher was broken up at some point to make several smaller pieces. I don't know the necklace Freddie wears with the pendant in the third photo, but the earrings look like the ones from the emerald parure.

According to the blog this cabochon emerald was a single jewel apart from the 7 emeralds used to make the brooch of the emerald parure.
I need to correct myself, the Prussian Tiara was given to Sofia as a wedding gift upon her marriage to Juan Carlos.
Frederika also acquired the huge Cartier Sapphire pendant from a Greek businessman, the pendant previously was in the possession of Queen Marie of Romania. It's whereabouts is unknown to this day.
