American Riviera Orchard suffers setback over 'irregularities' in their application for a trademark

The US Patents and Trademarks Office has notified the Sussexes' lawyers of various issues, including incorrect classification of yoga blankets, picnic baskets and recipe books.

And the agency said that fees are due to various bodies around the world to register the trademark – totalling $11,382 (nearly £9,000).

It is believed that Netflix – which has just finished filming a cookery show with the duchess – is taking over the commercial exploitation of the brand, so it would be safe to assume it will pay the fees.

A spokesman for the streaming giant declined to comment on their deal with her this week. Representatives of the Sussexes were contacted for comment.

Same old thing, "irregularities" in the application and fees that need to be paid. I knew when this was first reported, it would be turned down. Markle is too stupid to figure out the application herself and if the legal team did it, then they're just as stupid. Now Netflix is getting into the brand business and promotion to save her rear end.
Neil Sean had a video about a month and a half ago in which he stated a "source" revealed that Netflix aired both Meghan's lifestyle show and Harry's polo documentary before a test audience and both failed in spectacular fashion with the audience. I was waiting to see if this claim would show up in the rest of the media, but nothing so far. I would believe both shows failing with an early audience review.

Yeah, the lifestyle market is really saturated now. Gone are the days when someone with an idea and a Wordpress account could start a blog and then manage to turn it in to a money-maker.

I'm surprised Netflix is taking over the commercial exploitation of the brand. Haven't they learned from past experience with the Harkles? Or are they desperately trying to recoup some of the money they've lost on them?

"Canadian police have now logged the cost of their overtime during the couple's short trip - which saw them visit both Vancouver and Whistler between February 14 and 16.

The visit came as the couple promoted Harry's Invictus Games, which is set to take place in Vancouver and Whistler in February 2025."
"Whilst the Games covered £8,027 ($10,221) of the cost, taxpayers in Canada were still expected to fork out £34,558 ($44k) in overtime."

He said: "Taxpayers did not fund The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's security during their visit last February; their private security detail was paid by individual donations directed by the donors for that purpose.

"Public safety was ensured by Vancouver Police resources in the area should issues have arisen due to protests in the city at that time."

Their private security was "paid for by private donations?" Their private security people were the same guys that are in their employ. So they asked/demanded IG donors to pony up for the cost of their own security so they wouldn't have to pay, if the donors were informed of such....I'll bet donors were never made aware of that .

What's happened is Meghan still can't get a CEO and staff for ARO. In addition, neither she nor Harry has the discipline to stay and work on one project. They "start" a project and then lose interest when they actually have to work.

A related side note: Harry's ITV documentary on his fight with the tabloid media brought in only 1.1 million viewers...another failure.

When the Duke of Sussex appointed Josh Kettler as his grandly titled chief of staff earlier this year, it was said that he was the perfect man to 'guide' Harry 'through his next phase'.

However, the Daily Mail understands that Mr Kettler has suddenly quit his job after scarcely three months, amid much intrigue.

'Josh Kettler is no longer working for them,' a source in California told this newspaper today.

The timing is a particular blow to Harry and his wife Meghan as Mr Kettler would have been expected to accompany them on their 'quasi-royal tour' of Colombia, which kicks off this week.

In May, Mr Kettler joined Harry on his visit to London to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games, the sporting event the prince created for injured and sick service personnel.

Mr Kettler was seen entering St Paul's Cathedral with the duke for the anniversary service, which was attended by figures including Harry's uncle, Earl Spencer, but no other members of the Royal Family.

Later that month, Mr Kettler was a key figure on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's three-day 'tour' of Nigeria and was by Harry's side as he met government officials in the West African country. His role on the visit was said to be a foretaste of what he would achieve in the future.

Mr Kettler's very brief time in his position highlights the difficulties that the Duke and Duchess have had retaining staff.

The total number the Sussexes have lost since they married in 2018 is said to be at least 18, with nine or more having left since they moved to California in 2020.

One former member of staff told the Daily Mail yesterday: 'What may be most telling is that the entire time I worked there, I don't think I heard a single current or former employee on their staff say they would take the job again if given the chance.

'These aren't employees they had just found off the streets.

'Many of them are people who had previously excelled working for demanding bosses in high-performance companies and environments.' Mr Kettler, who is thought to be American, had previously worked for Cognixion, a medical equipment manufacturer.

The Daily Mail Diary reported in April that the Duchess of Sussex had failed to find a chief executive officer for her new cooking and lifestyle business, American Riviera Orchard, despite having interviewed several candidates.

Meghan is said to hope that the brand, which will focus on home, garden, food and lifestyle wares, will be highly lucrative. On Thursday, Harry and Meghan will begin their four-day tour of crime-ravaged Colombia.

They will visit the capital Bogota, the historical colonial city of Cartagena on the Caribbean coast and Cali, where they will attend a cultural festival.

Arriving at the invitation of Colombian vice-president Francia Marquez, the pair will, she says, 'have the exceptional opportunity to engage with elders, youth and women who embody the aspirations and voices of Colombians... and illuminate Colombia's role as a beacon of culture and innovation'.

Harry has claimed that Britain is too dangerous to visit with his wife and two children, Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three, after the withdrawal of his taxpayer-funded security following the couple's decision to quit royal duties.

A spokesman for the duke was approached for comment.

It's going to the point where it will be next to impossible for them to hire anyone. Word has gotten around what dismal "employers" Harry and Meghan are. I'll bet they pay next to nothing while working staff to death plus being total jerks.
There's other pictures of Josh in Nigeria with Harry and the wife and in quite a few, he looks downright appalled at them.

The jam's launch is inextricably linked with a cookery programme already filmed for Netflix which doesn't seem to be in a hurry to show it.

Sometime in mid 2025 has been pencilled in. Will we also get to see her new dog treats range?"

Mid 2025, it wouldn't surprise me if this show never sees the light of day. Their contract is up in 2025.....

Nicolás Petro has pleaded not guilty to the charges."

The President is a "former" FARC rebel. Colombia's biggest drug cartel has total control of the entire northern third of Colombia. They have free rein with human, drug, arms and sex trafficking. The FARC rebels have reported joined forces with this cartel. All this with no Govt. interference.
The Vice President stroked Harry and especially Meghan's egos plus, I'm going out on a limb...other perks may be involved. They go to Nigeria and Colombia, yet Harry claims the UK and now the US are so dangerous, he needs an IPP status for tax payer security. We'll see the same stupid, massive security set up in Colombia as it was in Nigeria. The new UK Govt. hasn't issued a statement that it is in no way connected with this trip...they should issue one.

I read another article that said Harry was trying to elevate Meghan to royal status by giving her the royal tour experience. But didn’t she have that? Isn’t that what they both walked away? My opinion is that these tours and interviews are to promote ARO and have nothing to do with fostering goodwill and understanding.
