Mette-Marit's Son Marius Charged With Assault After Serious Incident Left A Woman In The Hospital

"Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway's son was arrested after a serious incident on Sunday night.

Marius Borg Høiby, 27, has spent more than 30 hours in custody after an incident in an apartment in Frogner, Oslo - where a woman in her 20s called the police.

According to Se og Hør, Mette-Marit's eldest son, whose father is Morten Borgan step-father is heir to the Norwegian throne Crown Prince Haakon, allegedly attacked the woman 'psychologically and physically'.

The Norwegian publication reported Marius faces preliminary charges of 'bodily violation' and 'damage', after the apartment appeared to have been 'destroyed' when police arrived.

In Norway, preliminary charges are issued at the point of arrest.

The woman was taken to hospital where she was diagnosed with a concussion before being released in the early hours of Monday morning."
".........Police told Se og Hør: 'A person was arrested and charged with assault and later released from custody.'

The apartment where the incident took place appeared to have been destroyed, according to Norwegian tabloid Dagbladet.

The 27-year-old is now said to be at the royal Skaugum estate with his 50-year-old mother.

Mette-Marit was supposed to be attending the men's 1500-metre final at the Paris Olympics last night, however Crown Prince Haakon appeared in the stands alone.

Speaking to Norwegian reporters from the tournament, Haakon said: 'It is a serious matter when the police are involved in the way they are, but at the same time it is not right for me to go into the details of the case.'"

This isn't what the Norwegian Royal Family needs at this time. It's more stress on the King, Queen and Mette-Marit that they could do without.
It's too bad Marius didn't learn anything from his father's early life.

I remember when Marius was at college in Calif. and there was a story that he was involved in a "minor car accident". Shortly after that he returned to Norway, I wonder if he got into trouble with that accident either he was high or lost his temper with the other driver or both. He didn't even finish the first year at college.
He's drifted from one career/job to another since he became an adult. I'm not condoning his behavior, but he must have found it difficult to be in the press spotlight and have two half siblings who are Royal. On the other hand, his father was sent to prison for the same behavior plus being a drug dealer, some kids learn from their parents others take the chances. It's a shame that this happened. Mette-Marit is getting roasted in the press. It probably wasn't wise to contact the young woman even if she had the best intentions and meant to console her. It looks like interference to the public and press. It's sad for the young woman and Marius.

I have my own theory. Bright young people who suddenly struggle in their freshman or sophomore years of college because of drug use that is spurred by the onset of mental illness. They turn into erratic and sometimes violent people because they aren’t diagnosed and receiving appropriate treatment. We know he takes drugs and has been violent more than once. Maybe a recall will see him in treatment before charges are filed.

I'm amazed at the selective memory of the media. They have no trouble remembering what Marius's father got up to, but have drawn a blank regarding Mette-Marit's brother's domestic violence "incident" and that M-M testified in his defense at his trial.

The media promotes an agenda, they don’t provide unbiased reporting. They don’t do much research, either. Mettle-Marit’s father was a piece of work, too.

That's right, Mette-Marit's father was a real piece of work and I remember her brother's domestic violence charge.
I read another article today that stated Marius has had psychiatric problems since he was a small child. He's had addiction problems for a long time and has been in rehab at least once before.
