So, nothing unique about the situation. In fact, we have a Constitutional amendment regarding filling Senatorial vacancies.

Text: When vacancies happen in the representation of any State in the Senate, the executive authority of such State shall issue writs of election to fill such vacancies: Provided, That the legislature of any State may empower the executive thereof to make temporary appointments until the people fill the vacancies by election as the legislature may direct.

Meghan's name was being "bandied about" in Hollywood? By whom? Herself? Or is this a case of "Hey, is that Meghan chick lunatic enough to think Newsome will pick her?" type of thing? Because no matter how anyone felt about Feinstein, no one can deny she was a heck of a force and a politician to her fingertips who knew the game and played it well. Meghan? A laughingstock. does she believe Newsome would pick her? Nope, Newsome's going to go with someone who's got experience and intelligence.

I'm amused that anybody believes that she would agree to step aside and not run after the term was complete. If she did agree, she would go back on her word.

No, it's all media speculation and I'm sure Meghan herself pushing it. As Susan pointed out, the Governor can call a special election or he can make a temporary appointment to fill the seat until 2026, or he can fill the position himself. That very, very rarely happens as does the special election.
The media has also been running the story that the Gov. has blocked all calls from Meghan. So what does that tell us? If he appointed Markle, there would be an uproar among the public, GOP, and the Democrats. The media keeps up the BS that Markle's the darling of the Democrats....she's not. They are steering to the south of her, the public doesn't like her and......she has to lose the title, but still remains a member of the British Royal Family which can be used against her...among a ton of other issues.

We normally shy away from politics on this board unless it's royalty-related, so all I will say is that the Montecito actress must see this appointment as a personal insult and emotional wounding.

Care to guess where we'll see the next parking lot pap walk?

The serious media was speculating last week and guess what? Only the British tabloids thought Markle was in the running. No other news media even ran her name.
This is an aside...isn't the Governor's choice only in the seat until March and there will be a special election? Am I wrong? If it's correct, then the British tabloids will be harping on Markle and her "political aspirations" again.

Meghan's not proudly watching Harry rehearse. She's thinking about how she can get on the stage. Nor is that hand on Harry's back a sign of affection. It's a control tactic. That photo was taken just as she interjected herself into the group and a coversation that had nothing to do with her.

Plus the more I see that strapless dress, the more I'm amazed she didn't rip it at the seams. Why she persists in thinking she's smaller than she is and why she doesn't get things tailored properly or use an iron is beyond me.

We're going to be inundated with these "sweet moment" stories because of the double bad PR whammies from Kevin Costner's event and the school gag orders.

(It finally dawned on me that Misan Harriman was the photographer they brought over last year to take photos of the late Queen and Lili. Duh!)

Catherine has made fashion mistakes, but she never repeats them. She understands her role(s) and the clothing choices reflect that. We know Meghan wants to be Catherine, right down to her husband and children, but Meghan will never, ever be her, or anything close to her.

It's funny, but I always think of Queen Mathilde and Catherine as being in the same league, even though they are very different people. They have the same warmth and concern for others. Meghan? I have no league for her.

I think what Beebs stated concerning Meghan as an exhibitionist is correct. The inappropriate shorts at IG plus the skimpy top with the shorts outfit at IG, it's "look at me" and the many, many times she's worn tops and it's so apparent, sans bra. The red "gown" at the Intrepid event...the "neckline", the worst, but she wanted to show off. It's all to shock and awe.
Again, the photo of Meghan goo gooing at William..she wanted him. I think she still would go for William if there was an opportunity...Thank the Lord, there's not.

I can't believe they have the nerve to go back to NYC. This is nothing more than hurried event to try and give them positive PR. Wonder if the parents/families have signed their NDA's and gag orders?

It's World Mental Health Day, so William and Catherine will have something going on.

And by having their event in NYC, Harry and wife will be able to knock William and Catherine from the headlines three hours sooner than if they had done something in their neck of the woods. (You know the hypocritical British media will wring their hands about Harry and wife trying to steal the limelight - and churn out twice as many articles about the couple as they do about the Wales couple).

The article claims Meghan and Harry have been quietly working with young people in need of therapy behind the scenes. I laughed. we know Meghan hates working and she'd never do anything behind the scenes, while Harry probably just hangs out with them and doesn't do anything.
