Charles was the sole beneficiary of Queen's estate - worth around £650m

The King was the sole beneficiary of the Queen’s estate, estimated to be worth more than £650million.

There is said to be ‘some resentment’, particularly from the Duke of York, that he and his siblings have not yet been given what they feel they are owed.

A palace source said the Queen’s fortune had passed directly ‘from monarch to monarch’ because that was the most ‘tax efficient’ way to transfer it. A decision made in 1993 means no inheritance tax is paid on assets moving from one sovereign to another.

But that means none of the Queen’s other children, including Anne and Edward, have received money.

I would be very surprised, however, if she had not previously made very generous provisions for her other children, whether through trusts or other means. (It is said, by way of comparison, that, although the Westminster/Grosvenor estate follows the rules of primogeniture, even cadet members of the family generations removed from the Dukedom are well provided for.)

The late Queen may have provided monetary gifts for her remaining children, they may have been given those gifts while she was still alive or it's up to Charles to decide when to distribute such gifts.
However, if Andrew should receive money from the King, gift or provision, it may not be a much as he's expecting. The late Queen paid for all Andrew's legal bills throughout the entire Giuffre /Epstein issue while paying, I'm sure, other expenses for Andrew..while he was paying for Fergie's money issues. The Queen, but more likely Charles may think along the lines that money Andrew may have been left by his mother after her death has already been spent paying for his mistakes/problems. Just speculation. That's what occurred in my family, not to me or my sister.

If the late Queen has set up trusts for her younger children those trusts would be beyond interference from The King.

If she had expressed a desire in her will that The King make provisions for his siblings from the fortune that he inherited from her it would be entirely at The King's discretion whether to honour such a request.

I think that the first instance is almost beyond doubt - it is an important way that the rich distribute wealth across generations.

I take your point about Andrew having, possibly, been a particular drain on the late Queen's finances during her later life, but I don't see how that could have been reflected in the Will, since she left The King the lot (lucky King!).

Your correct on both accounts John, my last addition concerning Andrew being a drain on the Queen's finances, I should have really labeled that as mere speculation or just throwing the idea out. Since I didn't personally know the Queen and she didn't share her Will and it's contents with me, I have to speculate.

To be serious, that's the problem with articles releasing this info, we know there was a Will and Charles was sole beneficiary, but we don't know the specific details included.

We don't know what was in her will, we don't know what she gave away during her life, and we don't know what she told her children before she died.

Andrew may just be exhibiting a sense of entitlement, or she may have told Charles's siblings that Charles would share the money.

She may have instructed Charles to use Andrew's portion to ensure he has food, shelter, and clothing for the rest of his life, pay for any extras he deems appropriate, but don't give Andrew any substantial amounts of money that greedy, grasping Fergie could fritter away. That 32K guru expense that Charles is refusing to pay could have been wracked up by Fergie.

And the article does state that all Charles's siblings are peeved, so it could be that once again, Charles is going back on his word.

I just read about the 32K amt. for the Indian Guru bit. That had to be Fergie, but, but, she just stated in an interview last week that she was, in essence, financing Andrew because her literary career has taken off like a rocket....apparently not.
After being presented with that sum from Andrew and what it entailed, I could see a reluctance coming from Charles. Anne and Edward, no.

To answer John W. yes, QEQM, did have an overdraft and it was up to the Queen to handle it after her mother's death, you are correct.

Yes, Karenl, I also remember reading that. But then I also remember reading that she left a substantial overdraft at Coutts for QEII to pay. I'm also not sure how much capital she would have had - none, I assume from the Strathmores, so only what she accumulated as D of Y and Queen/Queen Mother.
