Drop in popularity in US according to polling by Redfield & Wilton for Newsweek

New polling by Redfield & Wilton for Newsweek revealed Prince Harry now has an approval rate of -7 on January 16, compared to +38 on December 5.

Meanwhile Meghan Markle had an approval rating of -13, compared to +23 on December 5.

The poll, which was made up of 2,000 US voters, marks a serious backslide in ratings for the couple, who moved to the country after stepping back from royal duties in March 2020.

On Monday Prince Harry was liked by 31 percent of those polled and disliked by 38 percent.

Meghan Markle was liked by 26 percent of those polled and disliked by 39 percent.

The poll also found that women were slightly less likely to like Ms Markle than men.

It's interesting that Harry's book is such a "huge bestseller" and at the same time, he and the wife are dropping off the chart in popularity.
I think people bought the book, out of curiosity here in the US and discovered the true Harry. If Harry wasn't liked before, it reinforced that dislike and if people were neutral or perhaps had some liking for him, they changed their minds.
Penguin plus Netflix made huge blunders by releasing the Harkle sagas only 4 months after the death of the Queen.

Ipsos Mori poll

Half of those responding to the latest Ipsos Mori poll said they held 'unfavourable' views of the Duke - compared to the near 70% who backed the Duke before the Sussexes' high-profile decision to step away as working royals in 2019.

It also emerged that less than a quarter of those polled (23%) said they planned to read his bombshell new memoirs - which has become the fastest selling non-fiction book ever after selling 750,000 copies in the UK.

At times it may be better, as Machiavelli wrote, to be feared than loved. Surely Prince Harry was hoping his memoir would strike fear in the hearts at Buckingham Palace. But what he likely didn't foresee?

Becoming a global laughingstock. And, in the process, diminishing his late mother's memory. Suffering crashing approval ratings. Space shuttles fall to earth less swiftly.
