"The Order of Merit was founded by Edward VII on 23 June 1902 to reward those who had provided 'exceptionally meritorious service towards the advancement of Arts, Learning, Literature, and Science.' " The Express ran an article about David Hockney " breaking Royal protocol by wearing Crocs." For crying out loud, he uses a wheelchair and a cane, he can wear any shoe that is comfortable and easy to slip into. The King didn't mind. I would have worn my UGG slippers, expensive for my budget, but oh so comfortable. I'd wear them to Mass if I could get away with it.
