Anne wasn't specifically talking about Harry and Meghan. But of course, the Sussex-centric DM has to make every article about them. |
What the Express claims Anne said:
Speaking to ITV for the documentary 'Anne: The Princess Royal at 70', Anne said: "The pressure that is applied to the younger members of the family is always worse, because thatís what the media is interested in and thatís, you know, hard sometimes to deal with.
"But there was no social media in my day.
"So it probably has made it more difficult.Ē
How the DM makes it all about the LA twosome:
Robert Hardman, who interviewed the royal, 69, extensively for upcoming documentary Princess Royal: Anne at 70, told Radio 4's Today programme: 'She explains that she's rather glad she's not setting off on this path today.'
Asked if she has 'sympathy' for Prince Harry, 35, and Meghan Markle, 38, he said: 'She does, and she talks about it.'
Robert went on: 'She fully accepts that the media are especially interested in the new and young and glamorous and that does place added pressures and it's not an easy role to play.'
Meanwhile he also revealed how the royal is conscious of added pressures for younger royals, explaining that 'in her day, you didn't have social media'.
So, until we see the documentary, we don't really know whether Anne mentions Harry and Meghan by name, and if she does, whether she was specifically sympathizing with their current situation or whether she was just talking in general about how social media has made things difficult.
