That could be, my first thought was the family being hit with death/inheritance taxes. I'm surprised they didn't notify the King. Perhaps the King will acquire his sister's jewels by a purchase agreement to help offset the family's taxes, if that's the case. Whatever the case, I hope this doesn't cause a rift in the family.
