We are expecting about 10-15 inches of snow and 1/2 inch of ice. The snow I can deal with--the ice, not so much. We live in a rural area and lose electricity a lot during snowstorms--sometimes up to 4-5 days. We are prepared. We know how to do this. We have a 'whole-house" generator that does the necessities--refrigerator, microwave, well pump, sump pump, television (Hubby saw to that!) and a few lights. We have propane heat for part of the house and propane cooktop, so we are good to go. Propane tank full, lots of food. The worst is without internet, we have no phone service. Our neighbors are all on 10 acres, but we check on each other and make sure everyone is okay. We have a neighbor with a huge tractor and he usually has our private road and driveways dug out within 2-3 days. Our driveway, however, is a problem--it is 1/4 mile and goes uphill and down hill and curves all over the place and is surrounded by woods, so the sun doesn't do a good job of melting the residual ice and snow. We live in the foothills of the Shenandoahs. Got my knitting, reading and jigsaw puzzles awaiting. Be safe y'all if you are in the path of this monster storm.
