1958 - Prince Charles was created The Prince of Wales and Earl of Chester. In a pre-recorded message played at the Closing Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Wales the Queen announced "I intend to create my son, Charles, Prince of Wales, today." and added "When he is grown up I will present him to you at Caernarfon." Charles at the time was 9 years old.
