1887 - 20 June Queen Victoria celebated 50 years as Queen and took part in several Golden Jubilee events. The day after (21 June) she participated in a procession in an open landau, drawn by six cream-coloured horses, through London to Westminster Abbey escorted by Colonial Indian cavalry. At Westminster Abbey, there was a Service of Thanksgiving. The music at the service included the singing of a Te Deum which had been composed by her late husband. On return to Buxkingham Palace, she appeared on the balcony, where she was cheered by huge crowds.
