1738 - Prince George William Frederick of Wales was born at Norfolk House in St James's Square London as the 2nd child and eldest son of Prince Frederick, the Prince of Wales and his wife Princess Augusta of Saxe-Gotha-Altenborg, the Princess of Wales. He was born two months prematurely and it was thought he might not survive, so was baptized on the day he was born by the Rector of St James' Chapel and Bishop of Oxford and then once it was clear he would survive, publicly baptized at Norfolk House in July 1738 once again by the Rector of St James' Chapel.
