1816 - Princess Charlotte of Wales, daughter of HM King George IV, married Prince Leopold of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld at nine o'clock in the evening in the Crimson Drawing Room at Carlton House. The only mishap during the ceremony was when Charlotte giggled when the impoverished Leopold promised to endow her with all his worldly goods.
