1863 - Princess Victoria of Hesse and by Rhine was born, on what was Easter Sunday, at Windsor Castle in the presence of her maternal grandmother, Queen Victoria. She was the first child and eldest daughter of Princess Alice of the UK and her husband the future Louis IV, Grand Duke of Hesse. Her godparents were Queen Victoria, Princess Mary Adelaide of Cambridge, Louis III, Grand Duke of Hesse, The Prince of Wales and Prince Heinrich of Hesse and by Rhine. She lived an amazing life and was the maternal Grandmother to Prince Philip the late Duke of Edinburgh, which in turn made her the Great Grandmother of King Charles III.
