1987 - Over 2 days, Sotheby's Geneva auctioned off many jewels once belonging to Wallis, The Duchess of Windsor.The remarkable jewelry collection raised $45 million for the Pasteur Institute medical research foundation approximately seven times its pre-sale estimate.

Some of the jewelry was resold in the late 1990s/early 2000s.
