1980 - Charles, the Prince of Wales and Lady Patricia Bradbourne, daughter of Lord Louis Mountbatten, launched 'The Mountbatten Memorial Trust Fund' at Buckingham Palace. The Mountbaten Memorial Trust fund was set to support the charitable organisations that Louis Mountbatten, 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma was associated with during his latter years. Chief amongst these are technological research and the application of technology to aid handicapped and disabled people, and support for disadvantaged young people.
