1973 - Queen Elizabeth II officially opened London Bridge. London Bridge refers to several historic crossings that have spanned the River Thames between the City of London and Southwark since Roman times. The current crossing, was opened to traffic on this day in 1973.



The Queen arrived by boat, after travelling down the river from Westminster, as her forebarers did.
