1547 - King Henry VIII of England died. He died at the Palace of Whitehall on what would have been his father's 90th birthday. He had planned a magnificent tomb but it was only partly constructed and never completed. Henry was interred in a vault at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, next to his 3rd wife Jane Seymour. The Vault is marked with a black grave stone set into the floor of the Quire in the Chapel
