1536 - King Henry VIII of England suffered a jousting accident. He was competing in a jousting tournament at Greenwich Palace when he was knocked off his horse. The horse then fell on top of him. There are several contemporary accounts of the event and while none of them relate the story in it's entirety they are all in agreement that Henry suffered a leg wound and a lengthy loss of consciousness.

Many historians think that as well as the leg injury (which ended with the leg becoming ulcerated. Causing him endless suffering.) he also suffer a brain injury. This comes from comparing his writings, acts and character prior to the accident vs his post-accident irrational actions, mood swings and personality changes. It's also said Henry was plagued by memory problems, explosive anger, inability to control impulses, headaches, and insomnia among other symptoms after the accident.
