You were right. It does make sense that the renovations would be done by Edo. My guess is that the artwork was removed to prevent damage, but also it may have been due for cleaning and restoration/preservation work.

Royal Lodge is huge --- more than Andrew and Fergie need. I think Edo might make wings for himself and Beatrice, and also Eugenie and Jack. A large playroom and also an outdoor play area would be needed. There's more than enough square footage to make a multi-generational home with separate living areas.
