Sunninghill Park was sold for several million pounds MORE than the asking price to Kazakh businessman, Timur Kulibayev, who is married to the daughter of the President of Kazakhstan. Timur Kulibayev's business career and portfolio includes his appointment to Government-linked companies in Kazakhstan. Whether those appointments were made on his merits or indicate corruption is not for me to say.

Although allegations were published in 2020 (?) that Timur Kulibayev was involved in kickback schemes worth millions, I am not aware that those allegations were ever substantiated. As far as I can see, the most significant question mark over his reputation remains his paying over-the-asking-price for Sunninghill, which reflects equally (or more) on the Duke of York.
