It was a very happy marriage. In the early part of the marriage Louise had to put up with some resentment from Gustav Adolf's children, especially Ingrid. As the years went on, the resentments diminished, I think the children witnessed their father's happiness with Louise and she never tried to "replace" their mother.
An aside: It was King Frederik VIII who collapsed while taking an evening stroll in Hamberg while on they're way back to Copenhagen. It's true that HM had no ID on his person and it was some days before his family were able to ID him.
