1548 - Catherine Parr, 6th and final wife of King Henry VIII of England, died at Sudeley Castle in Gloucestershire. She died a few days after giving birth to a daughter named Mary. Her funeral was the first Protestant funeral in England, Scotland or Ireland to be held in English.
