Sentimental Journey

I might think that Charles is doubly disappointed because this would have been his Queen’s first state visit abroad, similar to his beloved grandmother’s tour de force shortly after her parent’s death. The then still young Queen Elizabeth, queen of George VI, dazzled Paris and all the world with her all-white trousseau. Rather than cancel the important date visit due to mourning, and not wanting to cast a pall over it by wearing black, the Queen’s designer redesigned her entire wardrobe into white (an alternate mourning color). I think Charles was hoping Camilla could copy this well-known event to her own triumph.
