Despite the war and difficulties for the empire, she had what she needed to form a rock-solid foundation for the rest of her life. Of course, add in the love and support of Philip and success was all but guaranteed. The queen had some good advisors and the sense to know when to listen and when to do it her way.

All of the photo retrospectives, old videos and special programming is a wonderful tribute to the queen but I fear it will also be a fond farewell. I didn't think she would last for long without Philip after so many years together, and it seems that she's being called to his side. We knew the time would come but we also thought she was eternal.
