Some of these allegations are not serious. When someone bundles $1.5 in donations for your pet project, they get a nice dinner as a thank you. People who donate book collections and rare items to museums are forever on the VIP invitation list for receptions and dinners. When you think about it, a $300 dinner in exchange for a $100,000 donation is a good deal for the project being funded. If the money went to the project and not into Charles' pocket then it's valid.
Cash for a title and/or citizenship is another matter. Greasing the skids for citizenship is wading into government waters and that's where Charles gets into trouble. Cash for honors? Now he's pimping out his position as heir to the throne. There needs to be a thorough investigation to see if this is true and how deep it runs. If Fawcett did something illegal, instead of "just" unethical then he may face heavy fines and/or jail time, which will strain his loyalty to Charles.
Is this coming out now because it was going to be in a book scheduled to be published next year?
