The earrings were accepted as a wedding gift when the Crown Prince had lunch with the Queen during a three-day visit to London in March 2018.
Her lawyers have insisted that at the time, Meghan was unaware of the widespread speculation that the Saudi royal family was likely behind the killing of the Washington Post journalist.
Yet, according to The Telegraph, royal aides advised the Duchess not to wear the earrings.
A palace insider said: "Members of Royal Household staff sometimes advise people on their options.
“But what they choose to do with that advice is a very different matter.”

I guess Meghan was allowed to pack the earring for the tour because nothing was known for certain as to who had ordered Khashoggi to be killed.
Oct 23 Meghan wears earrings
More info about Khashoggi's death has become available, so her staff tells her not to wear earrings, but she doesn't listen. Info given to media about her attire says merely that the earrings are "borrowed" (a technical truth since they do not belong to Meghan, she merely has the exclusive use of them). Media doesn't recognize earrings as ever having been worn by the Queen and assumes they were borrowed from a jeweler. Staff doesn't correct that incorrect conclusion.
There's still parts of the story that don't make sense. Meghan told the aides that the earrings were borrowed? Or did she tell the aides to tell the media the earrings were borrowed?
I find it difficult to believe that nobody in their entourage knew that she brought a very expensive pair of earrings on the tour or how she came to be in possession of them.
