I agree, Martha. I'm probably way off, but I'm guessing the Duke of Cambridge approved, or even encouraged, Khan to come forward because it bolsters the DoC's case against Bashir and the BBC.

In the Richard Kay article, Kay stated that Khan was even invited to attend the 10th anniversary memorial ceremony for Diana, so Khan has figured out how to stay on good terms with the royal family.
