I like to buy a clamshell package with fresh ginger. Then, slice them all and freeze 5 slices together, until it's all in the freezer.
Some people, like Rachel Ray, freeze the whole root, and then grate it - frozen - as she needs it, popping the rest back into the freezer!
Toasted sesame oil isn't absolutely needed, but it tastes good in various things, and does last a long time.
I've never actually cooked with yellow peas, just the green ones. Which, aside from everything else, makes me think of split pea soup. It's still the weather for it!
Well, that may not be true. I've used the packs of several dried peas and beans before, and one of those may have had some yellow peas in them. They don't stand out, though. There probably weren't many in the mix.
