I got caught up in the 'what if' food game again this week.
This time the question was: if you could only have 20 desserts for the rest of your life, which would they be.
Another was what commercial breakfast foods would you choose, if you could only have 10.
The latter was pretty easy, even though I can't eat them anymore.
I chose Poptarts first. I understand that they've changed in both size and flavor, but if they were the ones that I remember: Chocolate, cherry, and cinnamon. How's that for specific?
That leaves 7. I'd like the breakfast drinks -chocolate and strawberry, a choice of cold cereals after that. Some of those I just like dry, out of hand.
But, back to the first. 20 was an odd number, but I gave it the old college try.
Pies -
Chocolate,
Pumpkin - with whipped cream, and
Lemon Meringue.
I love others, but heck, only 20..!
Puddings -
Chocolate,
Lemon, and one other to be chosen another day.
Ice Cream. If only one, chocolate chip mint, but I love toffee, various chocolate mixes, etc.
Candy -
Fudge,
Marzipan fruits, and
My Sunbutter cups.
I love others, but will stick with those. If I start in, I could choose 20 types of candy!
Cheesecake.
Just regular New York style for baked, and
Chocolate or plain for non-baked.
Cake -
A good chocolate cake with chocolate frosting,
German chocolate's good,
Chocolate cupcakes with orange frosting - if it actually tastes orangey, and is isn't just colored orange.
Fruit Based Desserts -
Baked Apples, for example, and
Strawberry Shortcake
And, cookies. I almost forgot cookies! How many have I left? I think only 3, darn it.
Okay...chocolate, ginger snaps, and lemon coolers.
But, really, I'd want to add peanut butter cookies, the Gamesa ones that come in 3 flavors, the original Fiddle Faddles - the cookie type, flakey and covered in chocolate, oatmeal-brown sugar, chocolate chip/chunk, cherry, sugar, thin mints, those marshmallow ones at the store covered in chocolate with a cookie on the bottom, a couple of the Pepperidge Farms ones that I can't remember the names of, the Girl Scout ones with coconut that are chewy, almond cookies to go with my green tea, etc. etc. etc.
Try this...if you dare! And, be sure to picture living away from everything with a dispenser to give you your choices, but no others, forever!
