Ds hasn't confirmed a date with me, and it could get put off, but I'm thinking around the 6th? I am taking into consideration him getting paid, and also trying to make it a Monday which is when he can *sometimes* do something, some weeks.
So, I'm working on the menus...which I find relaxing, so that I can make the shopping lists at my leisure without being rushed, as I do *not* find making the shopping lists relaxing, lol!
These 2 months have meals that go with holidays, so I have to consider that. We won't be having holiday meals, as such, but I always like to have something that we especially like anyway, the same as I do for birthdays, etc.
Somehow, I've gotten into habits with Christmas Eve, and New Year's Eve. Because I used to make a bigger Christmas dinner, I started planning soup on Christmas Eve. I would make it beforehand, so it was just a matter of heating it, following with Christmas cookies, and voila!
Dh expressed wanting a beef and vegetable-filled soup this year, and lots of hot from the oven bread. I can probably do that, if I get some meat. He asked about a really beefy broth liquid which is not as thick as a stew, but thicker than a thin soup broth.
The thing that I got in the habit of for New Year's Eve, was snacking our way through the night. We used to listen to the top 100 original songs on the radio, and play games with Ds while we snacked on sandwiches, cookies, pickled whatever, deviled eggs, etc.
I examined that thought tonight, and decided that it would suit us better to have one thing, or two, this year. I was thinking of trying to make a pizza each, so that there are leftovers...maybe! And, deviled eggs that day, or the next.
If nothing else works out easily, we'd be happy - very happy - to have burritos both on Christmas and New Year's Day, or maybe Chinese Noodle Dish one of the nights. We shall see, but I *think* that the soup and pizzas are a done deal...maybe, lol! Thankfully, things can be erased and replaced easily on a computer, lol!
Btw, the fried rice was even better reheated! I may never get it quite this right again, but I'm sure enjoying it!
