I had to get used to 'hippie food,' in name. I guess we always are 'hippie food' in actuality - yogurt, kiefer, granola, multi-grain breads, sprouts, etc. but we didn't think of it that way.
Then, when we got here, there were a couple of excellent healthfood store for the 'alternative' crowd...aka hippies.
And, the ranchers and such call any alternative foods/brands the hippie version.
They even called the healthfood stores hippie stores.
But, also the individual foods.
These days we say it to differentiate from conventional foods. Such as, if Ds is going to buy a Fig Newton, and I look surprised, he'll said, "The hippie version." because he means from the healthfood store which is an alternative company, and probably uses organic fruit, and replaces the sugar with apple juice.
If I ask how he's going to make something without concentrated orange juice, he'll say that he's sure that he can find a hippie version.
I hope that she likes to cook, too. :-) I used to say when Ds was little that I was involving him in cooking because I didn't want him to have to rely on a wife/gf to feed him.
Now, I would extend that to females, too, because you can say that you don't want your dd or dgd to have to rely on marrying a guy who can cook to feed her, since I've seen that very thing with ddil. It's best that all kids learn to cook... :-)
The meals sound great!
