Did you know that an acid added to a butter based pan sauce will stop the browning where you want it?
Apparently, when you are browning butter, say with shallots or some such, once the meat is out of the pan, just a little wine or lemon juice added right when you think that the butter is as brown as you want it, does the trick to stop it there.
That's what I thought about the bananas. I find it easy to freeze them whole, with skin, after a big shopping trip. How they look doesn't affect their taste, so....!
I'm glad that the radio arrived. Does it have more than one way to charge it?
Bird calls will be changing here soon. The birds traveling south come for the day, or a few days, then keep going.
Great about the eggs!
Yes, I remember the towels, and the jam jar lids!
I want the curtains...once we have walls, over Dh's sink (the counters will make an 'L' with the part running along the west wall being Dh's (it will be taller.), and the part running west to east...and facing the big south facing windows (great to look out of.) will be mine, as it will be lower.
Where they meet, I would like the formica (I think that that's what I can afford. Sister said years ago that it's worth it to spring for real tile, but am fine with formica as long as...) to be a single piece that 'waterfalls' from one to the next. Also, the edges/corners being rounded, not like the original sharp edges with the wood showing along that edge line.
They have all colors and patterns these days.
Anyway, I want the kitchen window on the west wall over the kitchen sink to be red gingham. Even on Ds's computer mock up, years ago, I had that look. :-)
The only kitchen curtain that would be nicer, would be the one that I had in the house that we lived in before we moved up here. My Dmil made them, and the material was a multi-color, but not bad looking, and when you looked closer, there were animals in the pattern. It doesn't sound at all nice, or tasteful, when described, but I loved those curtains. Ah well. Maybe I'll go with the red gingham, maybe something else. We'll see.
Re: berries...in those clear, plastic clamshell containers?
Yes, difficult to believe that Sept. is almost over. On the 30th, it would have been Tilde's 7th birthday. I'm glad for having Krypto, as he keeps us too busy to focus as much on our loss as we would, being that she was an only-dog.
I have to say, Henry, too. I never imagined raising a kitten again. At least they don't take long to raise. They grow in no time at all. I tell that to Ds all the time when we compare that Thyri and Krypto are a lot alike. But, I tell him, by Christmas Krypto will be half grown, and the baby won't be! ;-)
I hope that your 'fridge continues doing it's job. At least it will be easier to keep it cold once the weather changes back to cool. Mine is the same, and is old. But, works again!
Thank you, have a great rest of the food month!
