My thought was, when Ds goes shopping, maybe try a can of Hungry Jack biscuits, or something like that. They don't freeze, but are put in the refrigerator.

Leftover biscuits are great for sandwiches.
My mother's mother made biscuits for us in the mornings. She buttered them. Then, whatever were left were set on the back part of the old fashioned stove. Anyone who wanted a snack later on, if they were hungry between meals...and what kid isn't at least sometimes?...could take some and eat it as a buttered biscuit.
Yes, with breakfast is great, and with soups/stews is, as well. I've done both many times.
