(This is the weekly post where you share your week of food. Did you have anything that really made your week, such as your favorite soup, a lunch out, or maybe you had something new? Find a new food product? A new appliance? Please do share!)
I didn't actually get a new appliance, but an old favorite that I loved for years...the one that I mentioned on TT.
I have to give it a good wash, since it's been stored, but then it's ready to use! I sure hope that it's still working as before. I went to eBay and bought it a new belt...as I remembered it needing one now and then, back in the day. I wanted to hedge my bets, as it's the thing most likely to need replacing.
I found a hole in my plan to make angelfood cakes, though. I need a new bundt pan, darn it. I looked at Amazon, but Ds said that I would like one like he has, which he got at a place locally, so I am waiting for them. No cake today.
Instead, I have decided to make my chocolate brownie cookies.
And, I have a whole chicken in the freezer that I didn't want to face because I would have had to break it down, since it won't fit in my small oven.
Now, I can thaw it, and roast it whole this coming week! Which reminds me that I should ask Ds, if he's going down to the fields today, to grab a couple of sprigs of rosemary. Hopefully, I will remember, lol!
This week, Dh didn't feel well. So, we ate simply, and didn't do any more work than we had to in the kitchen. I would have made him anything that he wanted...that I had the ingredients for, but he wanted pretty much instant foods, and ice cream that he got on sale. It was Tilamook, and broke down to $1.30-something a pint. But, it actually comes in 1/2 gallons - which are no longer actual 1/2 gallons. They are shy of 1/2 gallons. It's something that they do throughout food that really bugs me, like 16 oz. cans of vegetables being 14 1/2 oz. Really? Sheesh!
Anyway, I made stovetop tamales, and just have had to re-heat them in the oven as I've wanted to eat. Super easy, and tasty, but I've only got one more batch worth left.
I also finished the teriyaki meat strips from the week before. I don't like to keep things for too long, so I froze them, and just took some out to thaw when I wanted it.
How was your food week?
