(This is the weekly post where you share your week of food. Did you have anything that really made your week, such as your favorite soup, a lunch out, or maybe you had something new? Find a new food product? A new appliance? Please do share!)
I had a pretty good week except for one night. I made fried rice one day, and have heated leftovers in the toaster oven, then was able to freeze 2 small meals...maybe light lunches, from what was still left.
Then, we made burritos, which turned into a comedy of errors, but it was good, thankfully!
I was making it, and asked Dh where he'd put the cumin. He said that it was still in the grinder. We start with whole seeds, and grind them in my spice grinder.
I looked into it briefly, took 2 spoons outs, and added it to the meat, following with other spices.
A little later, I was tasting the meat to adjust seasonings, and said to Dh that he needs to grind it longer next time, as I bit into a piece of seed.
He said, whole seed? And, looked in the grinder. Apparently, there was ground seed already in there, and he put more in...but hadn't ground it yet! It was mixed with powder, so you couldn't see it when you weren't really looking. So, there wasn't just one whole seed, it was a lot of seeds, lol!
Thankfully, once it cooked for a while, it was okay, but you do get the periodic pop of flavor, whoo! lol!
Ds tried a recipe that I suggested, and they liked it. Sloppy Jose's, instead of Sloppy Joe's.
I suggested taco-y spices, a little tomato paste, and a bit of cooked/jarred salsa. They served it on buns. They had condiments...you could use lettuce, tomato, etc. or not, avocado or not, and cheese.
I'm probably going to start making both of our menus and shopping lists, as we will shop in a couple of weeks. We last shopped for everything on Feb. 8th, so we could use a couple of things coming up.
How was your food week?
