That's true about many canned/boxed foods, as we've said before. I enjoyed Campbell's soups, but feel less bad these days, since they aren't the same as my memories of them.
I understand that the small details of soups can make a big difference, but out of curiosity, what changes with microwaving the potatoes for the potato-cabbage soup vs. the potato soup?
French onion can be fantastic. Some restaurants make really addictive versions.
I forgot about croutons, & potato chips.
I used to butter crackers sometimes, but had forgotten that. It's been a long time since I've even had a cracker...which I love.
I was addicted to peanut butter on crackers. I am still hoping to figure out a cracker one of these days, and use Sun Butter in place of peanut butter. I bought Sun Butter for Dh, and the other day he had some on bread. I was so startled, as it smelled like peanut butter. So maybe it will let me one day get back to having something similar to peanut butter on crackers.
No one ever liked that I ate them with soup, but I also, at my grandmother's house, would have peanut butter sandwiches with certain soups for lunch. She never gave me peanut butter and jelly, but a small amount of honey on peanut butter if I wanted it. But, that's off the subject.
