Absolutely on the rye, to my taste anyway. The Jewish delis called it corn rye. It was the 'real' stuff. After moving, I really missed things from them, and Italian delis, as well. Maybe if we hadn't shopped at delis regularly when I was growing up, but we did.
I like both. I have *got* to find my whole grain mustard recipe, or try a new one, darn it.
Oh yes, the hippie deli's. :-) I was recently lamenting one here, which closed years ago, and the owner passed away. I have never tasted food quite like his before. I've craved it on and off for some time.
I loved being able to bring my own containers for tamari, etc., and that he had some fresh, local produce, as well. We got tree collards from him - you can't buy them anywhere, they are rare, and delicious. How long ago was that? He used to get a kick out of the fact that Ds would ask if he could have a raw leaf to snack on...when he was 7 or 8!! Years later, he worked with Ds, once Ds was full-grown. He was on the board of directors of the local theatre, and Ds volunteered there as a light and sound tech, plus acted in some of the plays.
I digress! Have a great day!
