navy beans and 16 beans. I soaked them (I should have gone with my gut and soaked overnight) for 4 hours like it said on the package, but should have been longer. Then boiled the beans (be careful though the 16 bean may have barley) and then added ham to the navy bean (I had already but the ham bone in before boiling) and let it cook on low for 4 hours. The 16 bean, when it started to boil, I added carrots, cabbage, frozen corn and turkey meat. I've made it before with frozen beef. I browned the beef first and then added it. I got shredded beef...they had stew or shredded...and I'm going to cook that and I got corn tortillas. I have salsa and two relishes I found in the Mexican section (one green and the other red). I'll have shredded cheese, so people can add their own toppings. I will also make refried beans.
