(This is the weekly post where you share your week of food. Did you have anything that really made your week, such as your favorite soup, a lunch out, or maybe you had something new? Find a new food product? A new appliance? Please do share!)
It took a couple of days to get some cooking started, but I made gingered chicken and broccoli one day, for more than one night, tortillas one night, and a banana pudding one day!
The problem is not going to be cooking now, but getting ingredients.
Ds had to be near the buffalo ranch today. He couldn't be there when they said that they may have meat, because of his back.
So, we called, and the usual woman there gave Dh the cold shoulder.... She said that what had come in was bought.
We called back for more information, and she had quite a few tiny pieces of meat, which would be better than nothing. She knows Ds, and said that we could get 10 pieces. I figured one piece a week, or every 2 weeks. It would only be enough for a meal, and maybe a lunch.
When Ds made the extra trip there, she said that meat was 2 pieces per customer... Ds said that she was annoyed with him sounding, too.
They are supposed to get meat in tomorrow, but are closed Monday, and Tuesday. I know that if we don't buy our 2 pieces right away, we will miss out again.
The thing is, while it's probably true about the limit, I'm not sure. She's got some type of issue with us suddenly.
It could be that the owner/granddaughter said something about the flavored steaks that we got a while back, but it shouldn't have been a problem for her, as she wasn't involved, and we always say nice things about her.
In fact, Dh is very bold, and asked her if something was wrong, and about the flavored steaks. She assured him that there was no problem, but then was not very nice to Ds. Whenever someone's not nice to Ds, I know that there's something going on, because he gets along with everyone. And, he's always gotten along with her.
It may be none of that, but I always feel badly when someone is annoyed with me/us, and it sure feels like it's something to do with us. I always say, well, maybe they are having a bad day, etc., but deep down, I don't think so in this case.
If the manager, that woman, continues to have a problem with us, it could get to the point where we won't be able to cont. getting our meat there. She's got us down to 2 pieces per time, and they don't have it all the time, plus Ds can't get there all the time, and she's aware of it. At that point, I don't know what I'll do. I feel so much better when I have meat each week. Darn, darn, darn. I guess that we'll see.
Well, in any case, I did enjoy the chicken and broccoli, the tortillas, and the banana pudding!
I took the leftover tortillas and made some faux chips for a snack (yay!), and then had one with eggs cooked with onions, etc. I have eaten better the past 3 days than for a long time!
I still have a roast in the freezer, and want to make as many meals of stew...for the freezer, from it as I can with 1/2. Then, I want to make the Asian noodle dish starter with the other 1/2.
Both will be tricky, because I'll need quite a few vegetables to accomplish them, so hopefully, I can get everything at once, and make it happen!
How was your food week?
