Guess what's in the freezer? A piece of meat that will come out to thaw today, to become chili, stew, meatloaf burgers, maybe a pasta dish, and...birthday burritos!
It is not the best cut, but they won't have a new batch in for a couple of weeks, so I will work with it, happily!
Also, I have a handful of marrow bones to add to my next broth. My grandmother used to get marrow bones for her soups. No one even thought about it twice then, it was just something that you did to give your soup/broth 'strength.' We split the marrow bones with Ds.
Right now we are living on what we have in the house, since there's no shopping. I made a gingered chicken and broccoli first, because they were the most perishable, and we had eggs with spiced masa, etc. and leftovers for meals. The chickens are laying enough eggs now that I didn't need to buy any.
Unless we become overwhelmed time-wise, health-wise, etc., my plan is to make the lemon bars and the fudgesicle ice cream for dessert. Since I have made very few desserts the past 4 months or so, they will be a treat. And, because they freeze, they should last a while.
