It went really well! There were a lot of people, but we had plenty of prizes, and enough food.
It was mostly snacky-type food, because it was after lunchtime. Cheese/salami/olive platters with crackers and chips, nuts, M&M's, etc.
Ddil's mom got a sheet cake, and Ds made gf cupcakes for the people there who couldn't eat gluten. He chose the pink lemonade ones. They went over very well.
There were a lot of games...word games on paper, games of guessing when the baby will be born, etc., plus a game of memory where whoever remembers the most items after looking at, say, 20 objects, wins.
There was a bingo game when ddil opened gifts...what she opened replaced the numbers, there were baby versions of the sock game which used really cute baby socks, and pin the tail on the donkey, etc.
Ultimately, the prize bags were little spa bags with emery boards with pictures on them, mini-mirrors for a purse, nail polish, a small but good lotion, small soaps shaped like a print of baby feet or little yellow duckies, a couple of bags of M&M's, etc. We chose 4 or so items at random, plus candy, for each bag.
The party favor bags had fruit candies in them, and a packet of seeds that we put into colored seed packets. I stuck cute animal stickers on the front, and Ds got a sticker for the back. It thanked people for coming, and gave the growing directions.
The seeds were a mix of 24 flowering plants that are for attracting butterflies and hummingbirds, as well as other good pollinating bugs.
Honestly, I was surprised that so many people behaved so well, lol, but they did.
It would have been 1/2 of the people if the women hadn't brought their Dh's, but ddil thought that would be a good idea...
Well, that's enough about that, lol! :-)
Thank you again for the thoughts for the baby, I'm concerned. Apparently, on top of everything, ddil has a common strep (25% of pregnant women.) which is dangerous to the baby when he/she is born.
She will have to have IV antibiotics for 4 hrs. before birth to try to prevent the baby getting it. They can get pneumonia, sepsis, meningitis, etc. Sometimes babies don't make it, from 11 hrs. after birth to after 3 months old. It's scary.
Anyway, thank you again!
